ABOUT US

A project that resonates with the soul of Mas Caners, that reflects us and that we hope will thrill you.

A true haven of peace and conviviality nestled in the heart of lush natural surroundings, right in the heart of the Catalan countryside.

Designed for relaxation and rejuvenation, this unspoilt setting harmoniously combines well-being with a commitment to eco-responsibility.

HISTORY OF MAS

Mas Canès, El Canès, Lous Canes, Mas Caners... So many names testify to the rich history of this place. The Mas already appears on the Cassini maps (1756-1815). Owned by the Forga family since the French Revolution, the Mas changed hands for the first time in 1982.

In 2022, we fell in love with this old Catalan farmhouse, over two centuries old and nestled in a 30-hectare protected natural estate. Located in Montbolo, in the Pyrénées-Orientales region, Mas Caners seduced us with its natural beauty and the serenity it exudes. For two years, we worked on its restoration, respecting its unique architectural heritage to preserve its soul and authenticity.

WATER, THE SOUL OF THE FARMHOUSE

Mas Caners, located on the Aspres massif, backs onto the southern slopes of the Canigó, the sacred mountain of the Catalans. The Canigó, a symbol of fertility, has been irrigating the Roussillon plain for centuries. Water, sometimes invisible to the naked eye, is the very essence of this place.

In Catalan, Caners means “canne de Provence”, natural reeds or canisses, a tall grass typical of the south that's easy to grow in damp soils. Mas Caners symbolizes the presence of water and fertile nature.

We have sought to preserve and enhance this essential resource:

  • Development and protection of the historic natural spring catchment.
  • Wastewater treatment using a phyto-purification system with a natural reedbed.
  • Chemical-free biological swimming pond, preserving crystal-clear water.
  • Drip irrigation, optimized to minimize evaporation and runoff.

WHO ARE WE?

Patrick, Anna, and their daughter Laïa

Patrick: A humanist photographer

Patrick is an internationally renowned French photographer who grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (then Zaire). While on a journey spanning several decades abroad, he turned to humanist and cultural photography.

A true stage director of reality, he reinvents the way the world is told. His long-term project, carried out in a remote corner of the Congo Basin forest, explores a maternity ritual through a unique collaboration with young Indigenous mothers. Immersed for months on end, he gathers their stories and brings them to light through participatory theatricalization, transforming these women into actors in their own stories.

At the same time, Patrick is continuing his work on mindfulness and improving his quality of life. Settling at Mas Caners was an obvious choice for him, a place where he could combine his passion for nature, a source of creative inspiration, photography, and meeting other people.

Anna: A soul in symbiosis with nature

With a solid background in sports and health sciences, Anna has always had a deep connection with nature. Her career path has led her to occupy various roles in the fields of health education and well-being, highlighting practices centered on mindfulness, somatic therapies, and embodiment.

A holistic Mind and Body therapist, Pantarei practitioner, and Wilderness Teacher, Anna has focused her expertise on providing specific support for women, enriched by her training as a Doula.

Fascinated by ancestral traditions, she studied Curanderismo with a guardian of feminine wisdom in Colombia. Today, she guides women through their rites of passage, offering them a holistic approach combining physical and spiritual practices, medicinal plants and rituals imbued with meaning and depth.

On her first visit to Mas Caners, Anna immediately felt an intense connection with the caring energy of the place. Inspired by this harmony, she decided to bring her practices together here to create a space for sharing and transformation, designed to welcome beautiful souls in search of balance and reconnection.

A shared vision :

Our story began in Colombia, where we shared a vision of life centered on nature, mindfulness, and human exchange. This project, conceived as a haven of peace and creation, is for us a celebration of life and the beauty of the world.

REASON FOR BEING

Mas Caners is much more than a place: it's a space for encounter, exchange, and transformation. Designed to inspire and reconnect, every moment spent here is an invitation to celebrate life.

We hope you find as much joy and serenity here as we do in sharing this place with you.
